Marketing does not only means the business of selling and promotion of goods and services, there are many other things involved in marketing it is not as simple as it looks. Although the main area or the aim of marketing is to sell and market a product but it has many other branches and those cannot be neglected because those areas are the main strategies of marketing which enables a product to get positive response from the audience.

One of the main branches of those marketing strategies is the Market Segmentation. It is a tool on which all goods and services depend for apposite advertising and it is also acknowledged as one of the major management tool. It is defined as the procedure to split a souk into separate parts of consumers whose needs are general. As per the market competition strategies companies vary between what they offer, that is why the strategy of market segmentation has proved itself as a proficient and effectual tool.

Segment means dividing the market into groups of people who have similar characteristics in certain key areas related to the product. Select the target audience means identifying the group to be the most profitable audience, which is more likely to respond to marketing communications. These decisions are essential to both the message and media strategies for emerging in the advertising plans. Market segmentation is a much more common approach market. It assumes that the best way to sell is to recognize differences in the overall market and adjust accordingly strategies and marketing messages. In a segmentation strategy, marketers divide the larger heterogeneous market into segments that are homogeneous within these small markets.

This tool allows the marketing people to identify that what are the needs of market; it also provides them the complete break to enlarge their target market. Through this the marketing people gets to know about the needs and wants of their consumers, when companies get to know about the needs and wants of their customers they customize their product through revamping and relocating of their on hand products.

Conclusion: Market Segmentation is a necessary tool that marketing people require so that they can easily identify their target market. This tool helps the company to identify that what sort of customization is requisite in their new and existing products.
